Using slidesets
Slidesets allow you to:
- group images and movies into collections
- customize the title and description of each item in a slideset
- download all the items in a slideset, along with the associated annotations, in a single batch
Adding items to a new or existing slideset
You can select items to add to a slideset from the browse or search results pages:
- ensure the check boxes are ticked above the thumbnail image of each item you want to add to a slideset
- click the “send” button at the top of the browse or search results page
- choose to add the selected images to either a new slideset or to a slideset you have previously created
You can also select your saved items to add to a slideset:
- ensure the check boxes are ticked above the thumbnail image of each item you want to add to a slideset
- click the “Move to slideset” button at the top of the saved items page
- choose to add the selected images to either a new slideset or to a slideset you have previously created
PLEASE NOTE: At this point in time it is not possible to download images from BioMed Central Journals in slidesets. To avoid confusion, please do not add these images to your slidesets. If you do wish to include them in a PowerPoint presentation, follow the link to the original article in the image description and download the image from there.
Viewing and deleting slidesets
You manage your slidesets in My slidesets. This page lists all the slidesets you have created, allowing you to view, edit, reorder, delete and download them.
Organizing items in a slideset
In the My slidesets page, click the “slideset details” link for the slideset you wish to customize.
You are then taken to a page which lets you:
- edit the title and description of the slideset
- re-order the slides in the slideset using the “‹” and “›” buttons
- delete items from the slideset using the “del” button
- edit the title and description annotations and slide position for an item in the slideset by clicking the “edit” button
To move or copy items to another slideset, you tick the check boxes above the appropriate thumbnail images and then click the “move/copy selected items to another slideset” button which is below the Slide Description box.
Downloading slidesets
In the My slidesets page, click the “Prepare a PowerPoint presentation” button to begin the download process:
- after confirming you would like to create the PowerPoint presention, you will see a confirmation page telling you that the presentation file is being prepared for you
- soon afterward, you should receive an email letting you know that the file is ready for you to download
- on clicking the web link in the email you are taken to a web page to download the file
The ZIP file you download will contain a PowerPoint file with the images and annotations in your slideset. The ZIP file will also contain the original image and movie files for you to use in other presentation software.
Unfortunately we are not able to embed movies into the PowerPoint presentation, but you might be able to do this yourself depending on the version of Powerpoint you are using. The PowerPoint presentation will, however, include the annotations for each movie you downloaded.
